Let me start by saying that this can get messy! If your child does not like to get their hands messy or sticky or if you are afraid of a little cleanup, then this project is probably not the best fit for you. However, if your kids love hands-on activities and find joy in making something fun to play with from scratch, then keep reading.
During the process it can get a bit messy. However, I was pleasantly surprised at just how fast it was to clean up. I simply washed the bowl and spoon as I would my regular dishes and they can clean quickly. After the kids were done playing, I wiped the table up with baby wipes and it was good as new.
What Ingredients Do I Need to Make Shaving Cream Fun Dough?
- 1 cup glue
- 1/2 cup shaving cream
- 3 cups cornstarch
- Few drops of food coloring (optional)
Tip: The above amounts make enough for one or two kids. If you want to make a bigger batch, just multiply the above recipe.
What are the Steps to Make the Dough?
- Start by adding your glue to a big bowl. Add a few drops of food coloring of your choice. Stir until desired color is achieved.
2. Add shaving cream to your bowl and mix well.
3. Gradually add the cornstarch to the bowl, stirring constantly.
4. Add more cornstarch as needed until the desired consistency is achieved. I ended up adding a good bit more so that the dough was not so sticky and was easier to play with.
5. You’re all done! Let your kids have tons of fun!
How to Store the Fun Dough After Use
When your kids are done playing with the fun dough, be sure to store it in an air-tight container or zipped storage bag to keep it from drying out.
